Present: Robert Duchemin, Linda Harmon, Jan Booher, Seyril was here but went home because Robert & Jan were running late & didn’t get here until 8pm.
Meeting adjourned at 8pm.
–Equal Exchange Sales:
Linda says 3 weeks of sales 12/6, 12/13 & 12/20. Net profit $150. This paid for 6 motion sensors: bathrooms, kitchen and a couple of classrooms. Our initial investment was $150. We still have an addition $25 potential profit from remaining mini- chocolates. Whoever is running the register at the Flea Market can sell the mini chocolates. Linda misses socializing with friends at social hour. Linda has put together a catalogue with Equal Exchange. It will run through the end of the month. Catalogue with order form and registration form will be the way we are selling Equal Exchange this month. February will be Valentines Chocolates for sale during the first 2 weeks.
Robert asked about bulk pricing for coffee from Equal Exchange. Equal Exchange would run about $7.50/1-lb bag reg or $8.80.1-lb bag for decaf. Sold as a case of 5 1 lb bags. There would be yield of about 80 cups for one 1 lb bag. We will try the Equal Exchange coffee in February.
–Lighting efficiency improvements:
Charlie completed the hi-hat survey and found that 11 bulbs require immediate replacement. Earlier we agreed on purchasing 4 spares. As soon as he plugs in the final numbers for the bulb the GSC chose (BR30/4100K/65w equiv) he will place an order.
We will ask Charlie to submit pricing for review so we can pace out the purchases to be close to fundraising support. Jan will communicate that to Charlie.
–Carpeting in Osias: We are tracking down the samples. Jan sent an email inquiry to Hollis at Shaw Carpet to see if the samples have been sent.
–Recycling Awareness: Seyril left earlier. She has obtained and delivered more recycling bins for the rooms.
–The EPA project: Status: The rough draft of the Resilience Adaptation Community ReAct is complete and in the editing stage. There is a rough website on WIX. Next month Dr. Ana Pushkin-Chevlin will present at next month’s meeting: Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 7pm. Helping Justice, leaders from Developing Interracial Social Change (DISC) and from Toussaint L’Ouverture High School for Arts and Social Justice, Dr. Keren Bolter (Sea Level Rise Risk Perception Survey) and Dr. Sandra Norman (Oral History Project) will be invited. We hope some of our website and graphic design gurus can attend to help us figure out how to link our website to the Toolkit most effectively and to help tweak the design of the website for maximum appeal. We will also invite anyone who could help with Spanish and Creole translation. Jan has reached out to climate advocacy groups in Miami that are willing to help proof or translate Spanish and Creole.
–Florida Earth Festival: Vendor letter will be prepared this week and sent out via email for everyone to begin soliciting vendors. We will make copies for the FEF/GSC table on Sundays in Osias after Flea Market is over.
–Green Sanctuary Candidacy Application: Jan has sent an email to Gary Toll and David Dubbin to ask if Endowment has a “Green Policy” that should be included in the GSC Application. She will send the Application draft to Revs. Morriss to ask if it is ready to submit.
