The meeting was called to order at 7:15pm.
Present: Bill Bode, Robert Duchemin, Martha Nungesser, Sabine Engle, Jan Booher
Discussion was as follows:
I. Our Place in the Web of Life Curriculum
- Bill Bode will be listed as the contact person with phone number on the flyer for the classes
- The time listed on the flyer for classes to begin will be 12:30pm
- Robert Duchemin will reserve Rockberger for the classes
- Sabine Engle will ask Aiva Drummond and Elisabeth Hoffman if either of them is able to assist Martha on Nov. 2nd in teaching the Ethical Reflections on Our Place in the Web of Life
- Robert Duchemin will help Jan Booher lead the session on Mapping Congregational Impact on October 19th. Robert will compile the information regarding the utilities at UUFBR: gas, electric, water, recycling, etc. He will determine who we hire for cleaning, landscaping, and extermination. Jan will speak with Maria Moll regarding what is being done with kitchen recycling.
- Martha Nungesser will ask Ellen if the RE will be providing soup for Empty Bowls/Hunger Sunday Lunch on November 23rd.
- The Palm Beach Society of Friends (Martha will invite), UCC in Lake Worth, St. Pauls and St. Gregory’s (Bill Bode will invite)
II. Request for letter of Grant support from Loxahatchee Sierra Club (Connie Tuisku is writing the grant)
- Campaign to get the sugar companies to do green harvesting to avoid air pollution from burning sugar cane before harvest in the Everglades Agricultural Area
- EcoArt grant for an Earth Ambulance to collect stories in Palm Beach County, with a film component and a press campaign
- Jan Booher will draft a letter of support for the grant and submit to the Green Sanctuary Committee
III. Jan is working on a grant from the UU Funding Program for Florida Earth Festival 2015. Suggested budget items for the grant include:
- Video equipment ($300 – $400 GoPro cameras)
- Marketing Consultant (website/social media)
IV. Martha spoke with Doug regarding insulation
V. Jan and Robert have open action items to secure flooring samples
VI. Martha Nungesser will speak with Jeff Crews regarding the solar panel tax credit transfer to a for-profit business from a tax exempt religious entity.
