Overweight Victor hides from the world making pizzas in his mother’s gloomy dive until a new waitress blows in and disrupts his isolation. The film explores themes of loneliness, false hope, unrequited love, and self-worth. “Heavy” won the Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize at it’s premiere showing. You’ve been in places like this. You linger over a second cup of coffee and people-watch, trying to guess the secrets of the sad-eyed waitress and the drunk at the bar and the pizza cook who looks like he’s serving a sentence.
