Florida Earth Festival 2014 was a project of Visionary Alternatives, Inc., managed by UUFBR. Visionary Alternatives, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3.

SOCIAL ART!

Community partner, the MG Foundation, created origami sculptures of panthers and lilies to raise awareness about the need for Everglades Restoration to preserve the habitat of the endangered Florida Panther.

The panthers were displayed at libraries, The Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society, and Aveda at the Town Center Mall Boca Raton.

TOURS OF SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS!

Community partner, The US Green Building Council South Florida Chapter, provided information about LEED Registered and certified buildings, and 8 properties partnered with the festival to open their doors to tours of sustainable schools, office buildings, and an Emergency Operations Center.

  • LEED Platinum FAU Engineering East tour in the computer room, where FAU houses its cloud storage.

  • LEED Silver City of Coconut Creek Emergency operations Center

  • LEED Gold plaque in the lobby of Office Depot's Global Headquarters

  • Principal Fred Barch shows the hydroponics garden at Gold LEED Pine Jog Elementary School.

  • The efficiency of the rooftop solar array is explained during the Schmier and Feuring tour of LEED Platinum 2200 Butts Rd. building in Boca Raton.
