The SFLClimateActionPartners.org site, which was established with a grant from the UUFBR Endowment Fund in conjunction with the March 2, 2013 Climate Partnering Workshop, will be transitioning into the Climate Action Coalition of South Florida website in 2014. One of the objectives of the March 2nd Workshop was to create a network of organizations that would cooperate on public education and advocacy for the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Action Plan. This objective is being realized.
The organizations that sent a representative to the March 2nd Workshop, and are working to create the Climate Action Coalition of South Florida are: The League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County, Organizing for Action of Palm Beach County, MoveOn of Palm Beach County, and our Climate Change Working Group. Other organizations that sent representatives to the March 2nd event, and who are attending formative meetings regarding the coalition, are seeking board approval from their organizations to participate. The First Quarter 2014 Action Plan is currently being drafted.
The Mission of the Climate Action Coalition of South Florida is:
To raise awareness of the immediate need to address climate change impacts in Southeast Florida as detailed in the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Action Plan (RCAP), and the Federal Administration’s Climate Action Plan.
The Mission will be achieved by:
- Hosting educational events;
- Engaging in advocacy campaigns; and
- Promoting the events and advocacy campaigns of other coalition members
