The next meeting of the Climate Action Coalition of South Florida, a coalition formed during and after our March 2, 2013 Partnering Workshop, will be held at the Lantana Library at 4020 Lantana Rd., Lake Worth, FL 33462 on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, 5:30pm-7:30pm. All members of UUFBR who are active in our Climate Change Working Group, and those interested in becoming active, are invited.
The Climate Action Coalition of South Florida is a loose coalition of organizations, working to support the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Action Plan and the President’s Climate Action Plan.
Organizations represented at the June meeting included: Audubon Everglades, League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County, Loxahatchee Sierra Club, STAR (Save the Agricultural Reserve), Arthur R. Marshall Foundation, The Diversity Committee of the Democrats of PBC, The Climate Change Working Group of UUFBR, and Organizing for Action of Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, and The MoveOn Council of South Palm Beach and Morth Broward Counties.
The minutes from our last meeting and the agenda for this next meeting will be coming soon. You are welcome to attend, and to invite other organizations who may be interested in hearing about our coalition. Please mark your calendars!
We are currently processing signed petitions in support of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Action Plan and the President’s Climate Action Plan, which will be distributed to elected officials who represent those who signed petitions. The Coalition is working to convince municipalities to sign the Mayor’s Pledge in support of the Southeast Florida Regional Action Plan, and to determine what Palm Beach County’s priorities are in implementing the plan’s recommendations.
